Jazz with Junas in Budapest!

After the very beautiful 16th edition of the Festival Jazz in Junas Languedoc-Roussillon meets Hungary which was held in the Careers of Junas this summer of the 15 at July 18, the relations with Hungary do not stop there, since the president of association, Stephan Pessina-Dassonville, was invited by the French Institute of Budapest, L ’ Institut Goethe and BMC (Budapest Music Center), to represent France and to intervene at the time D ’ an important conference entitled Jazz and identity, which took place September 12. This international symposium organized in Budapest at the time of Mol Jazz Festival, great jazz festival of Budapest, saw intervening of the experts of three countries: Hungary, Germany and France. The topic and the problems of this conference related to the identity of the European jazz 20 years after the fall of the Berlin Wall.

After the recognition by the press of the Festival Jazz in Junas like belonging to the 30 most interesting festivals under development Europe, this participation in this great appointment on the reflexion, and to become to it European jazz is a new mark of the place which Jazz with Junas in Europe took.

The Cartoon of the 15th Festival Jazz in Junas

For the 15th year of the Festival JAZZ has JUNAS, a cartoon was published on the topic of the Sardinian scene to the editions Studies and Communication. The purpose of this work in partnership with association the friends of Cueco is to show the similarities between Junas and Bercchida in Sardinia where Paolo Fresu organizes the Festival Time In Jazz and to insist on the great user-friendliness of these 2 festivals. Humour and the distance remain the key word of the author who had fun to caricature characters of these 2 manisfestations.

Careers of Junas

Located at the border of Gard and L ’ Herault, Junas has stone quarries exploited since L ’ Antiquité.

D ’ Roman origin the careers of the good time fed in a durable way the town of Sommières (bridge Roman, religious buildings …) and provided, later, of materials for the ramparts D ’ Acute-Dead.

L ’ extraction of the stone continued in a temporary way jusqu ’ at the beginning of the XX century.

This thousand-year-old exploitation created a site D ’ an exceptional width. During the long nights D ’ be of the festival, the careers offer to the music a magic space under the glance of stars.

L ’ association Jazz in Junas

Jazz with Junas was born in November 1998 to ensure L ’ organization of the Festival and to perennialize it in the continuity of the first five editions organized by L ’ association the buddies D ’ Abord.

L ’ Jazz association in Junas is an association established with C œ ur of the village, a dynamic group accomodating of voluntary of all ages qu ’ they are junassols or impassioned come from all the area.

After fifteen editions, the members of L ’ association continue to organize in Junas a festival with human size where meet French and European artists, in a space of user-friendliness.

Finally and more than ever L ’ Jazz association in Junas S ’ registers in dynamic local and regional ones through the project Vagabond ’ Jazz. By L ’ organization in concerts to L ’ year, D ’ interventions in school Vagabond ’ Jazz is given for goal D ’ to impel a cultural dynamics in the villages neighbourhood, to emphasize local artists and to make discover the jazz with the greatest number.

The CLAJJ Club of the Friends of Jazz in Junas

In 2007, at the time of the 14th edition of the festival, was born under the impulse from Christian Jossinet, president of EGSA BTP, and Philippe Gadelle, president of PRAGMA, the Club of the Friends of Jazz in Junas, association gathering of the companies of the BTP in Languedoc-Roussillon having chosen to support the festival and the season Vagabond' Jazz.

Sensitive to the exemplary actions carried out by Jazz to Junas this new association makes a point of stressing the importance of their cultural stakes to the regional plan. She wishes to structure herself for, on the one hand, actively supporting all the original initiatives of Vagabond' Jazz and, on the other hand, promoting the major event of international scale which the festival constitutes while associating to him with the meetings, professional and convivial, between the heads of undertakings of the BTP, their collaborators and partners economic.

Collective JAZZ in the R

Jazz with Junas is member of the Jazz collective in the R which gathers a great number of actors of the Jazz in area Languedoc-Roussillon (musicians, collectives of musicians, national scenes, programmers and festivals).

The Jazz collective in the R obtained a charter of objectives which stresses the active support for the artistic projects which emphasize the contemporary jazz and the musics improvised in area Languedoc Roussillon. The members of the collective commit themselves to support creation, the projects new and giving a important role to the taking risk in their programming.

The members of Jazz in the R are also given for objectives to support the cooperation actions and of exchanges inter areas, to help with the development of the careers of the young musicians and to register their actions on their territory in synergy with other local partners or regional.

The AFIJMA

Jazz with Junas is member of Afijma (Association of the Festivals Innovating in Jazz and Current musics) which gathers 35 of the principal French festivals. Joined together around a charter of objectives, these festivals register their programming within the framework of marked cultural projects and projects citizens of diffusion.

Created in 1993, Afijma works with the valorization of the French and European jazz, and works with the development of international exchanges with an aim of supporting the programming of foreign musicians in France and that of French musicians abroad.

In 2002, these projects of exchanges are gathered under name Jazzed Cross. For the coordination of the project, Afijma receives the support of the AFAA, the Ministry for the Culture and the CNV. With the Netherlands, operation NLF Jazz Action was installation, which organizes the meeting of French and Dutch professionals in order to exchange their information and to organize the reception of the artists.
